STEINER (2024)

3-channel audio

If stones could speak a language we could understand, imagine what stories they could tell!

Try it yourself!

Choose a score you would like to play, and chose two stones to make sound with.

Vertical lines = time

Follow the green line from left to right:

No stone on the green line = silence
Stone on the green line = play
Less / more stone around the green line = less / more sound

Dark stone color = circulair stone movements
White / grey stone color = back and fourth stone movements

Or just have a listen:

The work is based on three stones from Andøya that have been interpreted as a graphic score and used as instruments. The performance of and with the three stones have been recorded and is presented in each their speaker.

A visual interpretation of sound – where visual material is interpreted sonically. Each color represents a different tone, the white spaces representing silence. The work is performed by following the black lines through the piece, playing the colors encountered. For this piece, the graphic score is interpreted with a pump organ / harmonium, an instrument rooted in Northern Norwegian coastal culture.

NESLAND (2026)

An experimental film in which the soundtrack is performed using the film as a score. Filmed in Nesland, Lofoten, Norway, the moving image guides the sonic development by the sound of the stones, interpreting the coastal cliffs and tuned wine glasses becoming the movement of the ocean.
