NORDLYSET (2024)

Can you hear the northern lights?

The composition is inspired by how electric particles from the sun collides with the atmosphere of the earth and become visible to the human eye as shapes and colors dancing over the sky.

“Nordlyset” is originally composed for a dome of 47 speakers, during a 4-week long work stay at ZKM | Center for Art and Media using higher order ambisonics – a 3D sound panning technique.

Ambisonics is easy to adapt to various speaker setups, depending on the amount and placement of the speakers in a particular space.
