PORTRAIT OF KILAN (2026)

Weaving is a craft often connected to women, with a lot of connotations and stories.

I collected leftover rope and fishing nets found in the fjaera (tidal zone) in Kilan, Lofoten to weave a portrait of the place. I am curious about using this kind of disregarded materials to potentially create something beautiful.

A visual interpretation of sound – where visual material is interpreted sonically. Each color represents a different tone, the white spaces representing silence. The work is performed by following the black lines through the piece, playing the colors encountered. For this piece, the graphic score is interpreted with a pump organ / harmonium, an instrument rooted in Northern Norwegian coastal culture.
