SOUNDING CERAMIC OBJECTS

I’m currently diving into creating sounding ceramic objects / creatures thanks to the Norwegian Goverment Grants for Artists. 

In July 2023 I had an inspiring work stay with the ceramic artist Susan Lange at Studio Keramik near Haderslev, Denmark.

I was able to research tonal qualities of different shapes and multiple clay materials. The objects now have to be burned, then glazed with an original glaze made by Susan Lange using her 30 years of experience, and then burned again at an even higher temperature until their final sound is revealed.

I am looking forward to creating some spatial compositions and performance installation pieces using these as sound sources. The journey has only begun and I’m looking forward to what comes.
