FIELD TRIP TO ANDØYA

In August 2023 I went on a field trip to Andøya in Vesterålen to collect materials and do some technical measurements for my upcoming sound installation in Andenes lighthouse.

The sound installation will span over six floors up through the lighthouse, each floor with a different listening setup, each telling a story of what the lighthouse sees - imbued with connotations from my personal connection to the area. 

A reoccurring fascination of mine is geology, and for this field trip, one of my goals was to collect some stones with interesting shapes, colors and textures to be interpreted as graphic scores as well as used as sound sources. I visited multiple locations with interesting geology on Andøya and decided to use some beautiful grey-toned stones with white bands, rounded by the ocean, from a beach on the west coast of the island.
