FIELD RECORDING IN VESTERÅLEN

In September 2023 I recorded some more material for my Fyrtårnet installation in Andenes lighthouse.

I was listening to seaweed, waves and the sound of my feet on “skjellsand” – a distinctive form of white sand made by degraded calcareous shells from shellfish and other marine organisms.

For the recordings, I used some of my newly acquired gear: Cinela COSI-19-S, Sennheiser MKH8040 and Zoom F3. My wish of being able to make quality recordings of tiny sounds in a harsh outdoor Northern Norwegian environment with as little wind noise and preamp noise as possible was granted.

I am bringing the material to The ZKM| Center for Art and Media Karlsruhe, where I was awarded a one-month residency in a spatial sound studio, as part of the “Sonic Experiments 2023”. I will present an excerpt of my work on October 28th, 2023 in The Cube in Karlsruhe, Germany.
